How does Esse generate summaries?
Esse works by automatically detecting a YouTube video link copied to your clipboard. It then sends the video's transcript to an AI service (OpenAI or Google) to generate a concise summary and key insights, which are then displayed in the app.
Where are my video summaries stored?
All your video summaries, key points, and app preferences are stored locally on your device using secure iOS or Android storage systems. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to share it through the app's sharing features.
What kind of videos work best with Esse?
Esse works with any YouTube video that contains speech. Educational content, interviews, tutorials, and talks are particularly effective. Videos without speech, such as music videos, will not generate useful summaries.
How many free summaries do I get?
All new users receive 3 free summaries upon installing the app. After using these, you can upgrade to premium access for unlimited summaries through various in-app purchase options, including weekly, monthly, yearly, or a lifetime one-time purchase.
Can I use Esse offline?
You need an active internet connection to generate new summaries, as the AI processing occurs in the cloud. However, once summaries are generated and saved, you can browse your entire library of saved summaries offline at any time.
Does Esse collect any personal information?
No, Esse is designed with privacy in mind. It does not require an account, collect personal information like your name or email, track your location, or analyze your YouTube browsing history. All data is stored locally on your device.
